Izuku feels the bile rise in his throat and it takes everything in him not to run off and vomit on the sidelines. And now, instead of a Villain doing that to him– Izuku can’t help but remember that not even a year ago, Kacchan was held hostage by the Sludge Villain. Kacchan thrashes once more, violently, but it doesn’t move him so much as an inch. There’s a thudding in his chest that he tries to ignore, and when they call for a break to get ready for the medals presentation, it takes everything in him not to rush down to the arena and drag Katsuki away to hide him from everyone.Īnd then when the podium raises, and he sees Kacchan chained to a pillar and muzzled, he knows he’ll always regret not going to him.īeside Izuku, he can hear his classmates murmuring, whispering about Kacchan and how he looks practically rabid down there, thrashing against his bonds while the heroes-the teachers who put him there looked on in vague annoyance and judgment. Izuku could feel his heart breaking from the stands. “To win first place like this! Like this?!” That he didn’t deserve the time and effort. But with Todoroki’s unwillingness to use his fire, all Katsuki would think now was that he was weak. Kacchan was the strongest there was, and was more than deserving of winning first place. The blond had never been good at controlling his emotions when it came to blows to his ego, to his strength and abilities. So when Todoroki had extinguished his flame, deeming Katsuki in his eyes as not deserving of receiving that full power, Izuku had known what was going to be the result before anyone else probably before even Kacchan himself had. And the one thing he wants from everyone he goes against is real, unfiltered effort.Ībove all else, it’s the one thing Katsuki respects more than anything power. Even when dinner with the Bakugous were tense because Izuku and Katsuki had started seeing each other less and less even when Katsuki let the prejudice of society come between them all the way through middle school even in their battle during the group training that All Might had run-Izuku knows that at the very core of his being, Katsuki wants to be a hero more than anything else. Izuku, who’s been on the receiving end of those words more times than he likes to count, had still understood him even when they weren’t friends. He’s abrasive and loud and not afraid to speak his mind, no matter how his words come off. Izuku knows that Katsuki has always been difficult to be around for those who don’t understand him. Katsuki lays on the ground in front of the crowd, face twisted in pain and anguish, and that’s when he decides that where Kacchan is involved, anything in the world is possible. As Midnight, with a glare on her face, doesn’t hesitate to use her Quirk to sedate a child, who was making no actual move to continue his assault on a classmate, his vision goes a bit red. He never would have called himself a violent person, but when he sees Katsuki holding Todoroki up, screaming to hide the tears of his unearned victory, something in him breaks. “Didn’t I tell you there was no point, damnit!” He throws his all into his friendships so that those around him can have someone to lean on and he can help them carry the burdens they carry around with them everyday. He studied hard in school and kept to himself so his mother wouldn’t have to worry about him while she worked her two jobs. so that he could become a hero for others. He trained with All Might for ten months to be strong enough to earn his spot at U.A. He would do anything for the people he cares about, the people he loves, and he tries to translate that into everything that he does. If someone were to ask Izuku to describe his temperament, he would say he is goal-driven, selfless, and kind.
